ARKANSAS – Taxable Wage Base Decreases for 2023

The taxable wage base in Arkansas is set at $7,000 for 2023. This is a $3,000 decrease from 2022.

KENTUCKY – Benefit Duration will be lower in 2023

Starting January 1, 2023, Kentucky will base the maximum duration for unemployment benefits based on the state-wide unemployment rate. For new claims filed after January 1, 2023, claimants will only be able to collect up to 12 weeks of benefits. For employers, this means that the potential liability of a KY claim will be lower since the current duration is 26 weeks.

Additionally, claimants on unemployment will have to follow new suitability requirements when looking for employment. If a claimant has been on unemployment for 6 weeks or more, they must take a position offered that pays at least 120% of their weekly benefit amount and is within 30 miles of their home or they risk losing their UI benefits.
