COVID-19 & Ohio Unemployment Tax Filing & Payment Waivers

During Ohio’s emergency declaration period, the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services will waive penalties for late quarterly unemployment filings and/or payments for any Ohio employer impacted by COVID-19.

In order to qualify for these waivers, business taxpayers who submit filings and/or payments late will be required to submit a waiver request either online or via paper along with the late item.

COVID-19 & the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) advised that employers planning layoffs or shutdowns as a result of COVID-19 should share the layoff number, 2000180, with their employees. This layoff number will help expedite the unemployment process so employees can receive benefits as quickly as possible. In conjunction with this layoff number, click here to see the attached mass layoff instruction sheet. Employers can provide this instruction sheet to employees who are part of any layoff or shutdown.
