WASHINGTON – WILDFIRES AND OTHER DISASTERS
The Washington State Employment Security Department made permanent an emergency rule created in the wake of wildfires in the state last year. The rules, which become permanently adopted and whose language goes into effect March 22, 2024, provide flexibility and relief to claimants and employers who are impacted by wildfires and other disasters. They address availability for work and training program progress certifications for claimants impacted by disasters while also addressing circumstances for relief from benefit charges for employers who are impacted by a disaster and whose employees become unemployed due to said disaster. The full language can be found here.
