Nurturing Employee Well-Being

At Thomas & Company, we believe that our employees are our most valuable asset. Their well-being and happiness are of foremost importance to us. We’re thrilled to share how we go above and beyond to foster a workplace that prioritizes employee well-being.

SOAR to Wellness

Our SOAR to Wellness program stands as a testament to our commitment. SOAR, an acronym for our core values – Solidarity, Own It, Always Improving, and Remember Who We Are, represents our dedication to employee well-being. In this program, employees set personal and professional goals, with a wide range of goals already achieved ranging from weight loss to social media freezes, walking challenges, and professional certifications. The beauty of SOAR to Wellness is that employees get to choose their own goals. As they work toward these objectives, they earn Bravo Bonuses of up to $200 for their achievements.

This program not only encourages a healthier lifestyle but also aligns with our purpose and values. SOAR to Wellness contributes to a more productive and fulfilling workplace, translating into a better claims experience for our team and our customers alike.

Culture Connect Series

We recognize that in a remote-oriented work environment, it’s crucial to create opportunities for connections. Thus, we introduced the Culture Connect series, a weekly initiative where all employees can come together via Zoom. These meetings serve as a platform for various activities, such as watching Ted Talks and engaging in meaningful discussions, sharing progress on SOAR to Wellness goals, or simply having fun playing games.

One of the most popular Culture Connect series events is our “Talk about TNC” meetings. During these sessions, we have the privilege of interviewing different leaders within the company, allowing them to share their journey to leadership and exciting news about their respective departments. It’s a fantastic way to foster connections, inspire, and keep everyone in the loop.

Flex Work Schedules

This year, we’ve embraced the idea of flex work schedules to further support employee well-being. We understand that one size doesn’t fit all, so we’ve given our employees the opportunity to choose a schedule that aligns with their personal and professional needs. This flexibility means they can opt for longer days in exchange for longer weekends or more days off. It’s about tailoring work to suit their lifestyle, promoting work-life balance and overall well-being.

Remote Work Benefits

We’re proud that 95% of our employees have the flexibility to work remotely. Remote work has its own well-being benefits, such as reduced commute stress and increased comfort. For the small percentage of employees who still need to come into the office, we provide a gas stipend to recognize and compensate them for their commitment.

Leadership Modeling

One of the most essential elements of our well-being initiatives is our leadership’s active involvement in walking the talk of our core values – everyone does what it takes to get the job done and to rebalance workloads to support their teams effectively. Our leaders lead by example, embodying the principles of servant leadership, and demonstrating genuine care and concern for their teams through frequent one-on-one check-ins. These conversations go beyond work-related matters; they delve into personal well-being, ensuring that employees feel supported and valued. This approach empowers our managers to make decisions that prioritize the well-being of the employee, fostering a more supportive and nurturing work environment.

At Thomas & Company, we’re dedicated to nurturing employee well-being, and our well-being programs reflect that commitment. We believe that a healthy and happy workforce is essential for success, and we’re thrilled to be recognized for our efforts to create a workplace where every team member thrives.

Stay tuned for our next blog, where we’ll delve into our recent awards for Professional Development, further solidifying our reputation as a Top Workplace.
