MAINE – WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT UPDATES

For new initial claims filed on or after June 1, 2026, the weekly benefit amount (WBA) will be increasing. The minimum WBA will be $113 (up from $106) and the maximum WBA will be $649 (up from $623). For claimants with dependents, an additional $25 per dependent per week may be added up to 75% of the WBA.

INVEST ACT COULD EXPAND WOTC CATEGORIES
Recently the Incentives for our Nation’s Veterans in Energy Sustainability Technologies (INVEST) Act was introduced in Congress which could expand Work Opportunity Tax Credits (WOTC) to employers who hire veterans that have completed a free vocation training program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. While the details of this potential credit are still to be determined, it represents even more potential opportunities for employers once the WOTC program comes out of hiatus if this bill is passed. Thomas & Company will continue to monitor the progression of this bill and the WOTC program as a whole.
