Increase in Fraudulent Claim Activity Detected in Connecticut

Connecticut employers should be on the lookout for an increase in fraudulent claims activity. When a state workforce agency rolls out a new system, it is not unusual to see an increase in fraudulent claims activity as the hackers try to find loopholes in the new system. Connecticut rolled out the ReEmployCT system on July 5th and we have seen a significant increase in fraudulent claims activity among our clients with a Connecticut employee base over the past month.

We urge our clients to continue to report these fraudulent claims to Thomas & Company for reporting to the state. We have developed information that can be shared with your employees Identity Theft Fraud: Recommended Actions. You can also download this information in English and Spanish and apply your corporate branding. We also have a knowledge base of frequently asked questions that can be shared with your employees at Fraud – Employee Questions.
