
ARKANSAS – DISASTER TAX RELIEF AVAILABLE
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced filing and payment relief for individuals impacted by recent severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred throughout Arkansas beginning on April 2, 202. The entire state of Arkansas is eligible for relief based on the widespread impact and FEMA emergency declaration. Taxpayers will now have until November 5, 2025 to file the required federal individual and business tax returns and make relevant tax payments for any deadlines that occurred after April 2, 2025 through November 3, 2025.
Furthermore, penalties for failing to make payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after April 2, 2025, and before April 17, 2025, will be abated if the deposits are made by April 17, 2025. More details on federal tax relief can be found on the IRS website.
Additional state level tax relief was also provided by Governor Sanders Executive Order 25-07, which extended the 2024 state income tax filing and payment deadline from April 15 to July 31 along with additional associated deadline extensions, which can be found here.
Due to the FEMA declared disaster, it is anticipated that impacted individuals will also be available for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) benefits, though information on these benefits has not yet been announced.
KENTUCKY – DISASTER TAX RELIEF AVAILABLE
Federal disaster assistance has been approved and will be made available to impacted Kentucky residents after severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that began on April 2, 2025. All 120 counties in Kentucky are eligible for assistance.
Due to the FEMA declared disaster, it is anticipated that both DUA benefits and additional tax relief will be available to impacted individuals, though information has not yet been announced.
TENNESSEE – DISASTER TAX RELIEF AVAILABLE
Relief is also available for Tennessee residents impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that began on April 2, 2025. The entire state of Tennessee is eligible for relief based on the widespread impact and FEMA emergency declaration. Taxpayers will now have until November 5, 2025 to file the required federal individual and business tax returns and make relevant tax payments for any deadlines that occurred after April 2, 2025 through November 3, 2025.
