Georgia Expands DUA Benefits to Pike County + TN Sets Early 2023 Tax Rates + NY Wage Base Increase for 2023

GEORGIA – Disaster Unemployment Assistance Available for Pike County Residents and Businesses

Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA benefits are now available for residents and businesses located in Pike County who lost income due to the sever storms on January 12th. Applicants may be eligible for a weekly benefit of as much as $365 beginning the week of January 15. Individuals in the authorized county directly affected by the severe storms must first apply for regular unemployment insurance on the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) website at dol.georgia.gov or in person at any GDOL career center. The GDOL will notify claimants if they are also eligible to file for DUA. Eligible claimants must apply for DUA no later than Friday, March 17, 2023.

TENNESSEE – Tax Rates confirmed for January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023

The state of Tennessee uses the balance in their trust fund on June 30 and December 31 to determine which rate chart is used to determine the unemployment tax rate for the following six-month period. The rate chart for the first half of 2023 has been confirmed and will remain at Rate table 6. There should be no changes to the tax rates for employers.

NEW YORK – Taxable Wage Base Increase for 2023

The taxable wage base for New York has been set at $12,300 for 2023. This is an increase of $300 from 2022.
