MICHIGAN – QUARTERLY REPORTS DUE OCTOBER 25

Third quarter wage and tax reports are due on October 25 for Michigan employers. While specific quarterly report deadlines vary from state-to-state, this is an important reminder that deadlines for quarterly reports are upcoming in all states.

It is important to ensure these wage reports have been filed to avoid costly interest and penalties. In Michigan, failure to ensure accounts are current (both in filing and payment) may result in a higher taxable wage base if the wage base is reduced. The Michigan Employment Security Act states that if the UIA Trust Fund maintains a balance of at least $2.5 billion for two consecutive quarters then the TWB can be reduced to $9,000; however, this is only for employers whose accounts are current with all reports filed and taxes paid in full.
