T&C Unemployment Insurance News And Updates – September 18, 2024

FLORIDA – DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is available to individuals who were affected by Hurricane Debby. Benefits may be available to individuals who live or work in Alachua, Baker, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee, and Taylor counties.

Individuals can file a DUA claim by visiting FloridaJobs.org or calling 1-800-385-3920. Application deadlines vary, ranging from October 15 to November 18. All claims must be filed by 11:59 pm on the following dates:
• October 15, 2024, for businesses and residents of Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Manatee, Sarasota, Suwanee, and Taylor counties.
• October 28, 2024, for businesses and residents of Madison County.
• November 4, 2024, for businesses and residents of Alachua and Jefferson counties.
• November 18, 2024, for business and residents of Baker, Citrus, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties.

As a reminder, DUA is an unemployment insurance benefit made available after a disaster and is only available to individuals who:
• Have applied for and used all regular unemployment benefits from any state, or do not qualify for unemployment benefits.
• Worked or were self-employed or scheduled to begin work or self-employment in the disaster area.
• Can no longer work or perform services because of physical damage or destruction to the place of employment as a direct result of the disaster.
• Establish that the work or self-employment they can no longer perform was their primary source of income.
• Cannot perform work or self-employment because of an injury as a direct result of the disaster.
• Became the breadwinner or major support of a household because of the death of the head of household.

OREGON – PHONE LINES REOPENED ON MONDAYS
After eliminating phone hours on Mondays earlier this month, the Oregon Employment Department (OED) has announced that phone hours have been reinstated. Permanent phone hours for the OED are 9AM to 4PM Local Time, Monday through Friday. These phone hours represent phone support for employers from the Contributions and Recovery program and customer support for Unemployment and Paid Leave Oregon programs.

The OED announced several scheduled days over the reminder of the year where their office will be working but not answering phone calls:
• Monday, Oct. 14, 2024
• Friday, Nov. 8, 2024
• Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024
• Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025
