COLORADO – WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT INCREASE
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment currently utilizes two formulas to determine a claimant’s weekly benefit amount. The higher weekly benefit amount from the two formulas is ultimately used to determine the claimant’s benefit amount.
Effective July 1, the weekly benefit amount for both formulas increased. The first formula, which utilizes the total wages paid for the highest two consecutive quarters in the base period, will have a weekly benefit amount ranging from $25 to $735 per week. The second formula, which utilizes the total wages paid in the entire 12-month base period, will have a weekly benefit amount ranging from $25 to $809.
IOWA – ADDITIONAL DUA BENEFITS AVAILABLE
Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) continues to be available to individuals who were affected by the recent severe storms, including straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that began on June 16 in Iowa. Benefits may now be available to individuals who live(d) or work(ed) in Osceola and Pottawattamie counties, if otherwise eligible.
Previously, DUA benefit availability in Iowa was announced for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickenson, Emmet, Humboldt, Lyon, O’Brien, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Sioux, and Woodbury counties.
Individuals must file a claim online through the Iowa Workforce Development’s Unemployment Benefits Online Application System. Applications must be submitted by August 23.
IOWA – DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
The Iowa Department of Revenue (DOR) recently launched a new website, revenue.iowa.gov, combining the previous tax and ABD (Alcoholic Beverage Division and Lottery Authority) sites into one agency. If you have previously bookmarked or utilized the tax.iowa.gov website, it is recommended you update your bookmark, though the website will redirect to the new URL.
The new DOR website features updated tax guidance and frequently asked questions to help quickly and easily guide users in need of direction and/or assistance.
MISSOURI – DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE BENEFITS AVIALABLE
Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) continues to be available to individuals who were affected by the severe storms, including straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred from May 19 to May 27, 2024 in Missouri. Benefits may be available to individuals who live(d) or work(ed) in Barry, Butler, Carter, Howell, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, and Texas counties, if otherwise eligible.
Individuals can file a claim online 24/7 through uinteract.labor.mo.gov. For assistance with claim filing, individuals can call their regional claims center Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM. Applications must be submitted by September 23.
OHIO – TWO STEP VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT COMING SOON
Beginning December 2, the Ohio Business Gateway will require two-step verification. The state recommends setting up the verification process in advance to avoid interruption to access during the transition period later this year.
If you have already set up a two-step verification with another Ohio state agency login, no further action is required.
RHODE ISLAND – WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT INCREASE
The maximum weekly benefit amount in Rhode Island was recently increased. For claimants filing on or after July 1, 2024, the maximum weekly benefit amount is now $723, up from $705. Individuals with the maximum (five) dependents can receive up to $903, up from $881. The minimum weekly benefit amount remains at $71.
TENNESSEE – UNEMPLOYMENT TAX RATES REMAIN THE SAME FOR REST OF YEAR
Rate Table 6 will continue to be in effect for employers in the state of Tennessee. Tax rates will range from 0.01% to 10.00% for the remainder of the year.
The balance of the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund in Tennessee on June 30 and December 31 determines which of the six Rate Tables is utilized for the following six months.
