The Consumer Price Index has reported a 1.7 percent increase in the cost of living for the
state of South Dakota, resulting in a higher minimum wage for the new year. The current
rate of $9.10/ hour will be bumped up to $9.30/ hour on the first day of 2020. The rate for
tipped employees will be $4.65/ hour, with the total of wages and tips equaling at least
twice this minimum wage amount.
