The Florida Unemployment Insurance agency has been working directly with the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) on a program called Rebuild Florida. This government program was created to assist low-income families with rebuilding their homes as well as owners of houses and rental properties that suffered destruction from Hurricane Irma last year. It has been a full twelve months of hard work that has resulted in this week’s launch of this $1.4 billion disaster recovery program.
The first of the Rebuild Florida locations is now open at 2796 Overseas Highway in Marathon. Case managers will be onsite Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist with registration. More mobile centers are also opening around the counties that were affected most severely by this storm.
Interested applicants for the Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program have until December 23rd to register.
