Steve began his career in state government in 1972. He served in several positions with the TN Dept. of Mental Health and was the Director of Tax Enforcement for the Tennessee Department of Revenue. He entered the Human Resources community as the Associate Director of Human Resources at Vanderbilt University in 1978. In 1981, Steve cofounded U.C. Consultants, an unemployment cost control and tax credits service company. Steve and Kris Thorngren cofounded Thomas & Company, Inc. in 1994.

As CEO, Jim leverages more than a decade of experience in the development and implementation of corporate cost reduction strategy and process improvement. He will continue to expand the organization in all areas and support the values that make Thomas & Company the industry leader. Prior to joining Thomas & Company in 2007, Jim began his career in employer services with Ceridian’s corporate payment solutions unit and subsequently joined ADP’s Employer Services division.

Nate has over a decade of experience in client services, business development, operations, management, cross-functional leadership, process improvement, and interaction with executive teams. Prior to joining Thomas & Company, Nate spent 9 years with Ernst & Young and subsequently served as a Partner with Vaco, providing accounting and business advisory services for both public and privately held companies across multiple industry sectors including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and services. Nate holds a Master’s of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee and is a Certified Public Accountant.
